Help diabetic cats get the care they need to survive.

Far too many people face a terrible choice between keeping their beloved companion alive and properly cared for in their original home and paying rent or other bills. The costs of caring for diabetic cats can be astronomical, and insurance does not pay for animal insulin or medical supplies. People are having to face the terrible choice of giving up their cats, either to shelters or to be euthanized.

GreaterGood.org partners with Diabetic Cats in Need to provide low-income caregivers the care they need for their diabetic cats. DCIN's Compassionate Assistance Program (CAP) addresses the issue of low-income caregivers of diabetic cats needing to choose between keeping their beloved companion alive and properly cared for, or paying other necessary bills. CAP works as a safety net for low-income caregivers of diabetic cats.

DCIN provides a blood glucose testing kit, a starter supply of syringes, and insulin. They are also able to assist with basic veterinary care when needed. Many cats are also able to reach diabetic remission when their caregivers follow the educational advice on feeding the best affordable diet.

You can help. Just $5 can provide a cat with a glucometer, allowing their owner to care for their loving pet.

The heart of Diabetic Cats in Need's mission is to keep diabetic cats in their original, loving homes, regardless of the income level of their caregivers. We support diabetic cats in their original, adoptive, shelter, and rescue homes; help to re-home unwanted diabetic cats; and help to educate caregivers on the appropriate treatment of diabetic cats.
