Help give injured, orphaned and abused bats a fresh start.
Bats have suffered and faced death serving humanity in research, in the cities, the country, jungles, and forests by way of their insect control. A single insect eating bat can eat 6,000 to 8,000 insects each night. Bats consume harmful night flying insects that carry diseases. Fruit bats are responsible for 98% of the regrowth of the world’s rain forests. With declining bat populations, we face a fractured future. Bats are very important to our ecosystem, but they are suffering from mistreatment.
GreaterGood.org has partnered with Bat World to provide injured fruit bats the food and care they so desperately need. Bat World is on the front line to end the destruction of bats through rescue, rehabilitation, education, outreach, and sanctuary. Bat World works to provide a permanent sanctuary for non-releasable bats, protect wild bat colonies, promote the humane treatment of bats in captivity, educate the public, and train professionals on the proper treatment of bats.
You can help. Just $10 provides emergency fluids for dehydrated fruit bats. You can give bats a fresh start at living a pain free life.
Bat World believes that great animal rescue organizations are judged not just by the scale of the work that they do, but by the impact that work has on the lives of the animals they rescue. We actively work with zoos, researchers and animal shelters to offer an alternative to death. Many of the bats in our care have lived terrible lives before coming to us and we provide the security and comfort they need to recuperate from their previous existence. We firmly believe that all living beings exist for their own reasons and have a right to a peaceful and happy life, just as humans do.
