First a hurricane, then a tropical storm, and finally a post-tropical cyclone, Florence is still not done causing damage on the southeast coast.
Hurricane Florence made landfall on Friday and pummeled the southeast coast with over 35 inches of rain. The constant rainfall from Florence has dumped over 8 trillion gallons of rain onto these states so far. The storm has already taken the lives of at least 32 people in the Carolinas and Virginia and over 500,000 homes and businesses remain without power. Hundreds of people and pets are displaced or trapped in shelters due to flooding, and authorities say the worst flooding is yet to come.
In the aftermath of the storm, there are 16 rivers in danger of major flooding. Catastrophic damage is expected over the next week as a result of the flooding, threatening people, pets, and their homes. That’s where GreaterGood.org’s disaster response team is helping. Because of your donations, we have already sent food, medical supplies, and cash to help those affected by the storm, but there is still so much to be done. With flooding threatening to cause more damage, our response is vital to ensure the safety and recovery of the people and pets on the ground. Your support is needed now more than ever.
100% of your tax-deductible donation goes to pets and people who are affected by Florence, and we will keep you updated on the progress of your efforts. Your ongoing support makes it possible.
